Negotiation Generation--Radio Interview

You don’t need to be tied up in knots giving away your power to your child or the popular culture. Every child, in every generation, needs a parent who knows when to talk and when to take action.

Proactive parents know how to exert authority and strength to influence behavior, not control it. Behavior is predictable given your child’s specific age and temperament and if you can learn to predict challenging behavior, you can prevent it.

Want to learn more? Jeff Wolfsberg, host of Inside Independent School Health interviewed me about my book Negotiation Generation: Take Back Your Parental Authority Without Punishment (Penguin, September 2007) Take a listen and let me know your thoughts.

You don’t need to fuss with star charts or find the right rewards or bribes. There will be no need to take away privileges and you won’t want to use time-outs, groundings, or spankings. Punishment only leads to more punishment. It’s skill-building—a combination of tell-me, show-me discipline that changes the way your child or teenager behaves, no matter what everyone else is doing.

Negotiation Generation will be widely available September 4th.
